This week marks a week that I do networking rigorously. I talked to 100 people a day on their journey and what they are doing at this time. Seen a lot of bright faces, do a lot of things, try the best they can to solve problems, but seems like not they not receive the support to do the things.
In society that encourages the value of extraversion and competition, I started to feel peer pressure and FOMO got building up. Lots of people lose their identities and meaning in chasing the game of life.

Everyone is struggling

Economic reason is huge reason, lots of people lost their jobs today. Some companies cut 10%, some 30%, etc. Never in my life have I felt so many people suffering:
  • My best friend applied to different companies 1xx times, studied multiple courses, failed at the final interview, unemployed for years and still question about his life
  • My other friends complained about unsupportive bosses and colleagues, having no motivation to contribute to the company... also ended up questioning about life
  • 35% of my colleagues at my old company got laid off unexpectedly since the financial status went really bad, lost their income and questioned about life
  • My buddies at Antler are working their stuffs and yet being scolded by parents due to “doing nonsense stuffs”, ... and questioned about life
A lot of people are trying to the right thing, didn’t yet know what the right thing to do, lost themselves in the pursuit of a good life.

And yet.. very lonely

My friends told me that they’re lonely, and lonely as f***. No one receives the right support, feel doubt about themselves, and then are not confident enough motivation to give others support, and eventually compete against each other to get the prize, as in a zero sum game. It creates some kind loop where no one can escape from the situation.
Identity crisis is a real deal. A (very famous) girl from Vietcetera I just talked to in the office where I work, she’s doing great thing and impact a large body of audience, and yet, shared that she has identity crisis too. Seems like identity crisis haunts everyone from the top the bottom, and spare no one.

My bold statement

Ok here’s my oath:
I believe in a world where everyone wins, I believe in what people do and the effort they put in to serve the best that they can. That means, no one should not be missed out of big picture. I’ll try to move the needle a little to do that by coaching, giving the right motivation, and the voice to the bright and unrepresented people.
If you’re following me for a while, you know that I’m working on a television podcast called VietNext, with the mission of bring the voice of young, talent and unrepresented Vietnamese generation to the all Vietnam, and potentially to the world. This series tries to:
  • Bring young, bright, and unrepresented talents to share about true stories and experience
  • Create at least 10 jobs
I will try to do it a little and little, hopefully I will first help everyone in my network, and potentially we can help as much people as I can.
If you love this mission, please let me know by DM via my linkedin or via my email 🙂
